Shooting Functions
Checking the Composition, Exposure
and Focus Before Shooting (Preview)
You can use the preview function to check depth of field, composition,
exposure and focus before taking a picture.
There are two preview methods.
Choose whether to use Optical Preview or Digital Preview when the main
switch is turned to the preview position (|).
The default setting is Optical Preview.

Select [Button Customization] in the [A Rec. Mode 5]
menu and press the four-way controller (5).
The [Button Customization] screen appears.

Use the four-way controller (23) to select [Preview Dial]
and press the four-way controller (5).
The [Preview Dial] screen appears.

Press the four-way controller (5)
and use the four-way controller
(23) to select [Optical Preview]
or [Digital Preview].

Optical Preview For checking the depth of field with the viewfinder.

Digital Preview
For checking the composition, exposure and
focus on the monitor.
You can use the Live View function that displays a real-time image on the
monitor and enables you to change the shooting settings and magnify the
