Aperture priority mode
- 60 -
Set the aperture value to a higher number when you want a larger in-focus area (in front
of and behind the main subject), to a lower number for a smaller in-focus area.
• About recording modes (→48)
The aperture ring rotates only within the range of the printed values.
Since the maximum aperture value changes in accordance with the zoom setting, the
printed indication on the aperture ring and the actual aperture value may be different.
Refer to the setting display for the aperture value when you take a picture.
When the resulting picture would be too bright or too dark, i.e. incorrectly exposed,
the numbers for the aperture value and shutter speed are shown in red.
The monitor brightness may vary from the actual still picture recorded.
Rotate the aperture ring to select
the aperture value
You can set the aperture values between
[1.4] and [8] in 1/3-stop increments.
(Set the aperture ring only to the click-stop
positions.)
Setting display
• When the aperture value is increased, the
depth of field expands, i.e. more of the fore-
and background is rendered sharply.
• When the aperture value is reduced, the
depth of field gets smaller, i.e. less of the
fore- and background is rendered sharply.
